Swimming pools are an ideal application for the use of solar thermal heating and can be hugely beneficial in helping to minimise the typically high costs associated with heating such large volumes of water.
For outdoor pools, solar heating can be particularly effective because pools will typically be used only in the summer months when the heat energy that can be captured by the sun's radiation is at its maximum.
A correctly sized system will heat your pool and maintain your chosen temperature (usually around 28°C - 30°C) from June to September, although acceptable bathing temperatures can also be achieved as early as April without any other form of heating.
For indoor pools, which are used all year round, solar heating will achieve even greater savings throughout the year.
