In most cases the installation of a roof or wall mounted solar energy system will be considered 'Permitted Development' and will not incur any objections or issues with regard to planning. There are however expections to this rule which must be observed including those requirements for a free standing system that are not within permitted development.
To assist with any concerns or considerations you may have, the Welsh Assembley Governement has produced a 'Guide To Planning' for domestic microgeneration systems which you may wish to consult.
